There is some major news buzzing through the halls of Meyer Middle School! This year, our very own VEX Robotics team has achieved something incredible: they officially qualified for the Wisconsin State VEX Robotics Championship.
The Meyer Middle School Robotics club is much more than just a hobby. It is a place where students dive headfirst into the world of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
In the VEX Robotics League, students work in teams to design, build, and program their own robots from scratch. These aren't just toys; they are complex machines built to solve specific challenges on a competition field. To succeed, students have to use math to calculate gear ratios, engineering to build a sturdy frame, and computer science to code the robot's "brain."
Reaching the state level is no easy feat. It takes months of trial and error. Students spent their afternoons tweaking designs and practicing their driving skills to ensure their robot could handle the pressure of competition.
Qualifying for State proves that our students have the problem-solving skills and creativity to compete with the best teams in Wisconsin. While the team is thrilled to have earned their spot among the top competitors, they have made the tough decision to stay home this year.
Due to local scheduling conflicts and the need to carefully manage the team's budget for the remainder of the school year, the team will not be traveling to Green Bay for the state tournament.
Even though they won't be on the floor in Green Bay, the team isn't letting that dampen their spirits.
By tackling these challenges, these middle schoolers are building more than just robots—they are building confidence. This hands-on experience shows them how STEM works in everyday life and prepares them for exciting careers in the future.
Congratulations to the Meyer Middle School Robotics team! You’ve shown that with teamwork and a little bit of "grit," anything is possible. We can’t wait to see what you build next year!
