Robotics has emerged as a dynamic tool in transforming the landscape of STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics—education. It not only introduces students to cutting-edge technology but also ignites their passion for discovery, problem-solving, and hands-on learning experiences.
In the River Falls School District (RFSD) in Wisconsin, there are robotics clubs for different age groups:
FIRST LEGO League for Elementary School-Age Children TEAMS
VEX Robotics League for Meyer Middle School
FIRST Robotics RoboCats for the River Falls High School
The FIRST LEGO League engages elementary school-age students in hands-on STEM learning through exciting robotics challenges. Elementary school-age club members design, build, and program LEGO robots, applying math, science, and engineering concepts. They also develop critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. The program fosters creativity and innovation, inspiring a passion for STEM from an early age.
The Meyer Middle School VEX Robotics offer its club members an immersive STEM experience through robotics. Participants design, build, and program VEX robots to tackle real-world challenges, enhancing their understanding of science, technology, engineering, and math. Through hands-on learning, middle school club members are equipped with the knowledge and confidence to excel in future STEM pursuits.
NOTE: For the 2025-2026 School Year, the Meyer Middle School will move from LEGO League to VEX League.
The River Falls High School FIRST Robotics Team, also known as the RoboCats, is for both competitive and non-competitive individuals. Members usually meet one to two times a week throughout the school year to build and program robots for various purposes and functions. This club also offers a competition program that designs a driver-to-controlled robot to compete in FIRST Robotics competitive games.
Empower Future Innovators: Support River Falls Robotics and Inspire STEM Careers!
The River Falls Robotics Booster Club's mission is to promote STEM education, teamwork, and creativity among K-12 students in the River Falls School District (RFSD) through the exploration of robotics and related technologies.
The primary purpose of the Club is to serve as the non-profit booster club for all robotics teams formed at any grade or any school in RFSD by providing fundraising, volunteer and organizational support to the students and their mentors. Future opportunities to support teams outside of the RFSD can also be considered.
The Club will work cooperatively with those leading RFSD extracurricular robotics programs and the River Falls School Board. The contribution of time, goods, services, and/or finances from the Club to RFSD’s extracurricular robotics programs is intended to augment those programs and not to serve as a substitute for the legal financial obligations of the State of Wisconsin or the RFSD.
