The River

The very best way to enjoy your stay at River and Falls is to get out on the river.

River and Falls is located on Black River, a protected wetland river with almost no cottages and rarely any boats near R&F. In this quiet privacy we love to enjoy a floating meditation and a daily workout down to Lake Ontario and back. 

The river valley has mature forests along its banks and is a thriving home to birds, frogs, turtles, otters and all manner of river life. On one easy paddle you will likely see, a Blue Heron, Swans, Osprey, Red-winged Blackbirds and lots of ducks and turtles. If you are quiet and lucky you may see our resident otters or a bald eagle.

It is a 45 minute gentle paddle down river, to Black River Cheese, where there is (often) a dock. An additional 15mins will take you out into Lake Ontario. 

There are three paddle boats to explore the river, for rent. 

A large 3 person fibreglass canoe, robust and great for dogs.

A 12' long sea kayaks and a 15" long narrower sea kayak. 

Boats are available to rent with a selection of life jackets, paddles, bailers, cell phone cases. Please enquire with any questions.

Rental must be arranged prior to arrival with Brenda.

Canoe Rental: $ 150 / week.    Kayak Rental: $ 150 / week per kayak.

You will be asked to sign a standard liability waiver, in order to rent the boats.
