At the moment, Rick Mislan is teaching at RIT's Saunders College of Business, focusing on cyber security (1). Mislan also used to be a student at RIT when Ritchie was designed.
In 1989, there was a contest to name RIT's newly designed mascot. Mislan submitted a name, and ended up winning. Yes, he was the person who named Ritchie, our iconic mascot!(2)
