Rookie Rugby is the US brand of flag rugby. Rookie Rugby is a safe, non-contact, easy to play game for both boys and girls of all ages! It is played in schools, parks and recreation leagues, and community organizations across the country. The rookie rugby rules are simple, the game is easy to learn, and minimal equipment is required.

Our Rookie Rugby curriculum satisfies the National Standards for Physical Education as outlined by the National Association of Sport and Physical Education (NASPE).

Kids are four times more likely to play a sport if they play it in P.E. classes and after-school programs first. Because of this we want to see a flag rugby unit taught in every community based programs in the area!

The game of Rookie Rugby w/flags (for new participants) is played with flags to replace the action of tackling. Rookie rugby is the preferred method to introduce rugby. If no flags are available, the game can be played as two hand touch; however, flags are always the better option. Later on, students may play a tackle version of the game.
