As an integrative psychotherapist with a qualification in Person-Centred supervision my approach is to have a considered and yet spontaneous response to my supervisees’ work and their practice. I start from a position of trust in the practitioner and respect your training, experience and in-depth knowledge of your own clients. We will explore together any issues that you may wish to bring, be that around client work, personal development and self-care or work-related issues. While supervisees bear the primary responsibility for their own practice I see my remit as helping you to work ethically, safely and to a recognised professional standard and framework (the BACP Ethical Framework being just one example). It’s really important that practitioners feel they are not alone in their endeavours and I aim to be as helpful and encouraging as possible. At times this may also include respectfully drawing attention to, and challenging, aspects of a supervisee’s practice.
As in therapy, the relationship between supervisor and supervisee is all important and fostering that relationship is the key to successful supervision in my experience. The supervisory relationship I offer will enable you to be authentic about yourself and your practice and will foster your on-going development and self-belief as a therapist.
I’m a principled and ethical therapist and always strive to meet the highest professional standards, an attitude I hope to model to others through my supervisory practice. Supervisees have let me know they also welcome my warm and down-to-earth approach and even humour, when appropriate.
I have a Post-graduate (PG) Certificate in Counselling Supervision.
Having been a tutor on an Msc In Psychotherapeutic Counselling and a BA degree in Counselling at two universities, I have lots of experience in supervising trainee counsellors on placement and of group supervision.
I see supervisees in my therapy room in my own home and outdoors for walking and talking supervision.
