A mixed media experimental film on repurposed 16mm film.
The witnessed scenes of domesticity (doing laundry, making food, watching the news) and of labour (fishing, masonry, construction and corporate work) present a dull image of adulthood.
The introductory eclipse alludes to the destruction of one’s vision, paralleled by image treatment that mimics retinal damage and symbolizes the idea of “losing sight” of something.
The pains of growing up and the nostalgia of childhood are echoed in the soundtrack, “Remember when you were young / You shone like the Sun” ; and ends with an effort to delve into one's passion, a blank slate and a word of encouragement for the audience to keep their spark: “Shine on, you crazy diamond”.
