We hope that our presence in the show ring has brought you here to learn more. We invite you to explore our show history and why we strive to continue our work.
The Ridgeview Acres' show string was established in the 1980s when David's sons expressed an interest in showing sheep for their 4-H SAE projects. With their fathers support, the kids first purebred Suffolks and Dorsets where purchased, initially shown under the name "A & J Shiflett’s." As the next generation took the lead, The Ridgeview Acres show string was formally established. Today, our showstring has grown to almost 14 head of each breed, appearing at local, and regional shows.
Aiden and Rylee grew up immersed in the tradition of showing sheep, quickly establishing their own reputations across Virginia and beyond. While the Augusta and Rockingham county fairs were their home turf for years, their drive for expanding their experiance as well as the farm's name led them to seek both new and old competition from neighboring states. Recently, the family has made its mark at the Tennesee Valley, Maryland State, and West Virginia State Fairs

"Showing and raising my sheep didn't just help me to pay for my own college education; It taught me vital lessons about responsibility, hard work, and personal relations. These are skills I use every day when marketing my animals and assisting others in my professional career ."
~Aiden Shiflett
Favorite show? : "The Augusta Market Animal Show. The 4H/FFA Market Animal Show here in Virginia has helped get my name more into the public and has caused me to gain so many new friends as well as helped me get more funding toward my college degree."
Favorite show?: "The VJSBA junior show. It's a fun show and I get to be around local growers and friends. I also enjoy how organized the show is and how cleanly it runs."
Ridgeview Acres is a proud supporter of local agricultural events and youth education. We are long-time backers the 4H/FFA Market Animal Show, the largest event of its kind east of the Mississippi. we also host educational workshops with the Virginia Junior Sheep Breeders Association (VJSBA) and provided local FFA chapters with animals for judging practice. Working closely with educators like Mrs. Kristin Beery at the Valley Career & Technical Center, we are commited to helping the next generation surpass expectations in the field of agriculture.
"Our Future Belongs to our youth. So we better teach them how to make the best of it." ~ Aiden Shiflett
