Class Overview
Each Tuesday, we will meet from 10-2:30 for our POD. We will spend approximately 2 hours on each subject, with a full 30-minute outdoor break for lunch and to get our bodies moving. The focus of our POD will be English and Math, and will cover BC curriculum learning objectives relevant to grades 5, 6, 7, and some 8.

I have lived in Ridge-Meadows my whole life, except for a year in San Diego, California. I love to read, play with my cat, drink tea, and visit with close friends. I also enjoy spending time outside, near water and trees, as much as I can!
I have always enjoyed learning and started tutoring other students in high school. I also worked in a Montessori preschool for a practicum, teaching Spanish to 3-5-year-olds. I decided in high school that I would either be a lawyer or a teacher; teaching just became my passion, and here I am 25 years later, and I could not see myself doing anything else!
I completed my undergraduate degree in English at Trinity Western University and then worked in the public school system for 10 years. I saw that many students needed much more than just ABCs, so I went back to school at Douglas College to earn my Psychology degree with a minor in Psychosocial Rehabilitation. I am currently taking courses for my Master's in Education online.
My teaching philosophy is that students learn best when they are enjoying themselves and understand the reasoning and applications of what they are learning. It is my goal to ensure that every student has not only an understanding of the material but an appreciation for the act of learning.
I am so excited to start this POD with you all this year, and I hope I can inspire a love (or at least a like) of English and Math in your kids! 🌼
