In 1859, daughter Janet married William Upper in Allanburg, and lived in Beaverdams. in the 1861 Canada Census of Thorold Twp. Wiliam Upper owns 75 acres of land. 55 acres are being cultivated, 42 have crops, 10 under pastures, 3 orchards, 20 acres wood or wild, Cash value is $2,500,William was a tavernkeeper and lived in a 21/2 story stone house. They moved to Lansing Michigan in 1892. They came back in 1922. Janet had suffered a stroke, and their daughter, Jessie, made the trip to have her parents return. Janet died in 1912, William passed away in 1914. Their children are Eugene Alexander, William Joseph, Andrew Wilson, Florence Catherine Jane, Norman and Archibald Stem Upper. William is descended from Lt. Anthony Upper, a United Empire Loyalist.
