Frances Hobbs was born March 19, 1832 in Keynsham, England to Joseph and Caroline Noyes Hobbs. Frances is a Pioneer of Richmond
Very little is known about Frances' early life other than her mother dying at a young age and Frances being placed into a boarding school. While she was still young, she began working for some unmarried women as a cook. An employee of the sisters named Sarah introduced Frances to missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During one of the meetings with the missionaries, Frances met Cornelius Traveller, a widower. Frances married Cornelius on Christmas Day, 1854 in Hackney, England, and was baptized around the same time.
Soon after their marriage, the Traveller family began preparations to move to the United States of America and live amongst the Saints in Utah. The Traveller family set sail to the United States on the Jeremiah Thompson on Sep 25, 1855 and arrived in New York City, New York on Oct 25.1 They traveled to Florence, Nebraska Territory and joined the John Smith Company on June 22, 1860 and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on Sep 1.
The Travellers lived in the Salt Lake Valley until 1864 when they moved to Richmond.
Frances Hobbs died March 5, 1914 in Richmond. She was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
