Mary Ellen Titensor was born Jan 13, 1859 in Manchester, England to Thomas and Sarah Robbins. Mary is a Pioneer of Richmond and Cove.
Before Mary was born, her parents were converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Soon after she was born, they began preparations to move to Utah.
On April 23, 1861, the Titensor family boarded the Underwriter to cross the Atlantic and move to Utah. The ship arrived in New York City, New York on May 21, 1861.1 They traveled to Florence, Nebraska Territory, and joined the Ira Eldredge Company. The company left on July 1, 1861 and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on Sep 13. Soon after their arrival, the Titensors were invited by Mary's uncle, John Allsop, to move to Richmond.
In 1874, the Titensor family acquired a quarter section of land located three miles from High Creek. Later, the area would be called Cove. Mary married John Christian Larsen on Nov 24, 1881 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Mary was John's second wife, entering them into polygamy. John's first wife was Mary's older sister, Susannah.
After entering the practice of polygamy, Mary had many times when she had to hide from U.S. Deputies and Marshals. At one point, when she was expecting her third child, word reached her that some Deputies were in Cove, and she had to hide herself and her two other children in a bush all day long.
From 1914-1919, Mary served as the President of the Cove Ward Relief Society. In 1919, the Larsen family moved to Logan, Utah.
Mary Ellen Titensor died July 24, 1944 in Logan, Utah. She was buried in the Logan, Utah Cemetery.
