Sarah Robbins was born Aug 17, 1829 in Manchester, England to George and Susannah Sutton Robbins. Sarah is a Pioneer of Richmond and Cove.
The early history of Sarah is unknown. In 1849, Sarah and her brother George were baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Elder John Taylor. Sarah married Thomas Titensor on April 1, 1854. Soon after, the family began preparations to move to Utah.1
On April 23, 1861, the Titensor family boarded the Underwriter to cross the Atlantic. The ship arrived in New York City, New York on May 21, 1861.1 They traveled to Florence, Nebraska Territory, and joined the Ira Eldredge Company. The company left on July 1, 1861 and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on Sep 13. Soon after their arrival, the Titensors were invited by Sarah's brother-in-law, John Allsop, to move to Richmond.2
"Many times in those days we had no bread. Mother boiled the wheat and we would eat it with milk. I have seen her eyes fill with tears because she had not enough to feed her children, but I never heard her complain. When she was asked if she would like to go home to her native country, her reply was 'No. I came here for the gospel's sake, and I am willing to work and wait."
"... When the grasshoppers came and were eating our crops, she would take Mary Ellen and me about two miles to the field to walk up and down through the wheat waving rags to keep the grasshoppers on the move so they wouldn't eat the grain, we were indeed tired at the close of day."1
In 1874, the Titensor family claimed a quarter section of land in Cove and moved. From 1881-1885, Sarah served as the 2nd President of the Cove Ward Relief Society.
While visiting Thomas in Pocatello, Idaho in 1876, Sarah fell from a moving train, causing here to go into a stroke. She never fully recoved from the accident. Sarah Robbins died Jane 19, 1903 in Cove. She was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
