George Washington Sharp was born April 1, 1846 in Fulton, Illinois to James Robertson Sr. and Martha Arminta Griffith Sharp. George is a Pioneer of Richmond.
Before George was born, his family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Sharp family moved across Illinois, and about nine of George's siblings, including himself, were born in different settlements in Illinois.
The Sharp family joined the John Taylor Company on May 24, 1860 in Florence, Nebraska, and arrived in the Salt Lake Valley on Sep 17. After their arrival, George worked as a guide and hunter for wagon trains crossing the plains.
In 1865, George moved to Richmond to work for John Bair. While working, he became interested in his daughter Lucinda Amanda Bair, and the two were married on Feb 3, 1865 in Salt Lake City, Utah. After their marriage, the Sharp family purchased some land up highcreek, and later moved to Preston, Idaho in 1877.
George Washington Sharp died Aug 9, 1927 in Soda Springs, Idaho. He was buried in the Lava Hot Springs, Idaho Cemetery.
