Benjamin Loss Peart was born June 10, 1849 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jacob Sr. and Fylinda Angela Loss Peart. Benjamin is a Pioneer of Richmond.
The early life of Benjamin is unknown. Benjamin married Elizabeth Christiana Ashment on Aug 9, 1869 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They lived in Salt Lake until 1870 when they were asked by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to help colonize Soda Spring, Idaho. When they reached Richmond to visit the Ashment family and rest during their journey, their outfit was stolen, and the Peart family decided to remain in Richmond.3
The Pearts lived in Richmond until 1872, then Franklin, Idaho until 1877, moving back to Richmond. 3
Soon after Benjamin moved to Richmond, many of his family members also moved. After his father's death in 1874, his mother, brother, and sister moved to Richmond. Benjamin's daughter Maud Peart lived to the age of 100.
Sometime between 1875-1885, Benjamin purchased two mills in High Creek Canyon: a shingle mill and a saw mill.3
In the 1900s, Benjamin Loss Peart and his younger brother Leander Lafort Peart opened a blacksmith shop in Richmond.1 They operated the blacksmith until Leander died in 1919, and Benjamin renamed it to B. L. Peart & Sons Blacksmith.2
Benjamin Loss Peart died Nov 16, 1929 in Richmond. He was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
