Margaret Bateman was born Jan 5, 1831 in Salford, England to Joseph and Margaret Turner Bateman. Margaret is a Pioneer of Richmond.
The early history of Margaret is unknown, however, she was baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1841. The family began their immigration to the United States in 1842, arriving in Nauvoo, Illinois. After the murder of Church President Joseph Smith, the family moved to Council Bluffs to seek refuge.
The Bateman family joined with the companies to move west, arriving in the Salt Lake Valley on Sep 21, 1848, where they lived for many years. While there, Margaret married Mormon Battalion Veteran Dennis Wilson Winn on Jan 2, 1849. Margaret and Dennis moved from place to place:
Salt Lake City, Utah, 1849-1852
West Jordan, Utah, 1854
Alpine, Utah, 1857-1858
Richmond, Utah, 1860-1870
Alpine, Utah, 1871-Death.
Margaret and Dennis moved their family to Alpine, Utah in 1871, where they lived for the rest of their lives. Margaret Bateman died July 29, 1913 in Vernal, Utah. She was buried in the Vernal Cemetery.
