Ross H. Plant

About

Ross Henry Plant was born March 25, 1914 in Richmond to Henry Thomas Jr. and Edith Louisa Webb Plant. Ross served as the 25th Mayor of Richmond.

Early Life


Ross married Favell Roskelley Sep 25, 1937 in the Salt Lake City, Utah Temple.

Ross graduated from Utah State University in 1935 with a B.S. Business Administration.

War Service

Ross began his service during World War II in 1941, and was stationed in Camp McQuaid, California. Ross attained the rank of Colonel, and ended his service in 1946.

Member of the City Council (1950 - 1954)

Mayoral Term (1954 - 1966)

Ross H. Plant served as the 25th Mayor of Richmond from 1954-1966. Ross Plant, along with Marvin A. Traveller, hold the longest consecutive time as Mayor with 12 years of service. Ross Plant is the son of Henry T. Plant Jr., making them the second and most recent father-son Mayors.

Ross served as the President of the Cache Mayors Association.

Ross was awarded the "Outstanding Municipal Official Award."

He was succeeded by Dean Andrus

House of Representatives

Ross Plant served as a member of the 35-37 Legislatures of the Utah House of Representatives.

State Road Commission of Utah

Ross Henry Plant was appointed by Utah Governor Calvin L. Rampton to the State Road Commission of Utah April 1, 1967. He served the six year term and was re-appointed for a second term March 27, 1973.

Epilouge

Ross Henry Plant died Oct 17, 1974 in Richmond from cancer. He was buried in the Richmond Cemetery.
