The Andrew & Susanna Allen Farmstead is a historic farm located in Cove with a home, barn, granary, and pioneer home. The house was constructed in 1894, and the barn in 1917. It is unknown when the pioneer home was constructed.
Andrew Bickmore Allen was born Dec 23, 1859 in Herriman, Utah to Elijah and Eliza Ann Bickmore Allen. After the death of Elijah in 1866, the Allen family moved to Richmond to be closer to family who had already moved here. The Allen family soon moved north to settle in Cove.
Andrew married Susanna Elizabeth Preece Jan 6, 1881 in Salt Lake City, Utah. They had eight children. They built a grainery they made their home in 1891. In 1893, they began building the home that now occupies the property.1 Andrew built the barn that occupied the farmstead in 1917. Also located on the farmstead is the original home built in 1894, the oldest home in Cove, with chicken coops, brooding houses, sheds, and a blacksmith. Also on the property is a pioneer log cabin that was not built by the Allen family, but was relocated to the area.
Ivan, their youngest son, was one of the most active in the family when it came to farming and milking. After the deaths of Andrew and Susanna in 1941 and 1953, Ivan took over the farm. He, along with his wife Agatha Mary Hatch, used the farm until their deaths. The home was sold to Stephen and Tamara Wickham in 2000 and then sold in 2011 to the current residents.
