Construction for White Pine Middle School began in 1998 with an initial cost of $4.85 million. White Pine Middle School was constructed in 1999 to accommodate classes taught to 6th and 7th graders in the northern portion of the Cache County School District.2
The original mascot was the Elk, and the school colors were White and Pine Green. White Pine covered most of northern Cache County from Smithfield north to the Idaho border, west to Clarkston, and back south to Trenton. Students from Lewiston Elementary and Park Elementary who transitioned to White Pine had their first experience with multiple class schedules, lockers, various teachers and subjects, and trimesters. Students who graduated from 7th grade were sent to North Cache Jr. High School.
In 2018, the Cache County School District made dramatic changes to school boundaries and classes. The building where Park Elementary resided would be shut down after 85 years of service, and White Pine would be the new Elementary School of Richmond, teaching K-6th grades. The Middle School portion of 7th Grade would be moved to North Cache Jr. High School, which was transitioning to North Cache Middle School.
Along with the change of grades and staff, the original mascot and colors would also change. Students were given the chance to vote either to keep White Pines or Parks' name, colors, and mascot. The students chose to vote to keep the name White Pine, but to amend Parks' colors of Blue, White, and Gold. Shellie Healy, the principal of Park, would move over to be the first Principal of White Pine Elementary
Because White Pine would now be an Elementary School, a playground on the north side of the school was needed. They asked local organizations, businesses, and people if they could help fund the new playground. $40,000 was received, and the new playground was added for the 2024 school year.1 Some businesses that help with the donations included Bair Auto, Cache Valley Extermination, Brady and Holly Christensen Farm Bureau, Itty Bitty Equipment, Lee's Marketplace, Parker Real Estate, Richmond Village, and Valley Vet.
