Currently, there are 35 skiers on the Nordic Team.
Meet treats are for the athletes to enjoy after their races.
They are generally distributed on the bus.

Ideas for meet treats:
Pre-sliced bagels (favorites are plain, cinnamon sugar, chocolate chip, wheat) and cream cheese (favorites are plain and strawberry)
Please include plastic knives and napkins. Having the bagels pre-sliced is also helpful -- remember the skiers will want to keep their mittens/gloves on as much as possible!!
Bananas
Cuties (little tangerines)
Granola bars*
Cookies*
Anything else* that tastes good, and is fairly easy to eat on the bus. When in doubt, ask your skier.
*** No peanuts please!!
Thanks to all the families who signed up to provide treats for meet days. The skiers thank you for refueling them after their races.
Thanks again for being a hero to the Spartan Skiers!

Benefits of Hosting / Participating in a Pasta Dinner
Richfield Nordic Skiers absolutely love Pasta Dinners -- it's carb loading the day before their meets offered in the comfort of a warm home while they relax with their Nordic friends. Life is Good as they say, so if you are not signed up yet, there are some openings available.
Don't hesitate to share the preparation and costs with other families -it's all up to you how many people provide a pasta dinner. Host families generally provide the location and the main course with the co-host bringing bread, salad or fruit, milk and dessert and help serve if possible. Pasta Dinners are set for two hours -- skiers need to get home to finish school work, wax and get to bed for success in school and on the race course!
For those gracious enough to gather together to make these pasta dinners possible, your benefits are getting to know the skiers (you can see their faces much better without all their snow gear on!), meeting other parents, learning what truly great kids are on the team, plus knowing they are well-fed and happy the day before the meet!
Quantities and menu items...a start to help you out...
Basic Dinner Supplies from Sam's Club:
5 - 7 lbs of spaghetti or angel hair pasta
1 - 2 jugs (8.5 lbs) of Ragu sauce
or 1 8.5 lb Ragu jug plus 3 jars of Alfredo sauce
1 - jar of parmesan cheese
4 - boxes of New York Texas Toast
or 4 loaves of French bread loaves, sliced
or bread sticks
Your choice of salad, veggies, fruit
Your choice of dessert - bars, brownies, ice cream, cookies
2-3 - gallons of milk
unlimited water with ice
30 - 40 plates
30 - 40 cups
30 - 40 forks
15 - 40 napkins (hey, lots of kids don't take one)
TOTAL COSTS RANGE $80-$120 depending on what is served, paper products, # of kids served
The main course is your choice. Some families have served lasagna (store-bought or homemade) or other similar pasta recipes. It's all up to the people hosting the party what the menu is.
It usually works the best to have kids fill their plates upon arrival to spread out serving time.
In addition, please post in TeamApp and/or the Facebook page the day of your dinner. Include date, time, location, and contact number in case they can't find it or a parent needs it.
There are currently 35 skiers on the team plus the four hungry coaches. However, it's rare to have all the skiers at a pasta dinner due to work schedules, confirmation classes (especially for Wednesday night dinners) and homework/test preparation.
