Often, we have a large gap between those who need work and those who need workers. One of my goals is to create programs that help employers find employees in other locations. I'd like to start by focusing on agricultural needs, helping farmers find farmhands during their harvest seasons.
To do this, I'll introduce legislation that will accomplish two things: first, it'll provide funding for bunk-housing. This housing will be for out-of-area laborers, allowing them to temporarily relocate near the farmers that need their help. Second, it will provide transportation funding for busses or train tickets to bring those laborers to the farmer.
Consider: Farmers in our district need help harvesting crops. Using this program, they are able to hire former coal miners from West Virginia. Government funds cover a bus trip to and from the farm, and bunk-housing, built by the government and maintained by local farmers ensures the West Virginians have safe, reliable housing while they fill a local need. It's a wise investment of our taxes that creates jobs, food and dignity.
