Here are three articles about this from the AP, NPR, and Federal News Network.
Everyone can take action to stop the targeted attacks on libraries. Below are some resources to help you to make your voice heard.

The Friends are thrilled that the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners (MBLC) has awarded a provisional construction grant to the Reuben Hoar Library in Littleton in the amount of $5,844,747 through its Massachusetts Public Library Construction Program (MPLCP).
The project will build a new two-level building on a site directly adjacent to the current library/town hall and will feature a much larger children’s area, larger meeting spaces, and more private study spaces. The new building will be more flexible and energy efficient, a major concern among many in the Littleton community. It will also be ADA compliant.
The town will vote to approve the remaining funding at the Fall Town Meeting. If you'd like to receive updates about the project, sign up for the Friends mailing list and the library's Browse newsletter.
For more information about the grant, go to https://mblc.state.ma.us/news/news-releases/2019/nr190711.php and find out more about the project at https://www.littletonlibraryproject.org/

At the upcoming Special Town Meeting on May 6, the Library Trustees will ask town residents to approve funds for a detailed design for the new library. This will allow the town to know exactly what the new library will look like and how much it will cost. After the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners awards the $5.8M grant in July, the town will be asked to appropriate the remaining funds at the Fall town meeting. At this time, the Board of Selectmen have indicated that the entire project should be able to be funded within the current levy - with no increase to taxes.
The article needs a 2/3 majority vote to pass. We hope you will be able to attend and show your support for the library!
Special Town meeting is scheduled to start at 7:30pm (on May 6), and will be held in the Charles Forbes Kaye Gymnasium at the Littleton Middle School at 55 Russell Street.
More information about Article 5, submitted by the Library Trustees and supported by the Finance Committee and the Board of Selectmen, is on littletonma.org

A huge thank you to the community for joining us as the entire library was transformed into an 18-hole mini-golf course!
Approximately 450 golfers of all ages navigated through holes threading through the shelves on all three floors of the library during the two day event.
Raising over $18,000 for the Library Building Fund, this event is a testament to the generous people and sponsors we are fortunate to have in Littleton and the surrounding area. More importantly than the money raised, this event reminds us at every turn how important the Reuben Hoar Library is to this community. Many sponsors spoke to us of the time they spent at the library with their own young children, many current patrons raved about our fantastic librarians, and other attendees spoke about enjoying the community feel of the event itself.
Want to be a sponsor next year? Contact reubenhoarlibraryfriends@gmail.com and we'll remind you!
This fundraiser would not have been possible without the help and generosity of a large number of sponsors and volunteers. Please take a moment to look at the sponsor list and thank them the next time you patronize their business!

The Friends and Trustees of the Reuben Hoar Library hosted a wine tasking at Orange Door Kitchen on November 3. Thanks go out to Andy Curran, Irene Gorski, and Pat Fredricksen for sharing their library stories (with a little help from a Dr. Seuss!)

Once again, the Friends of the RHL are sponsoring a Littleton Town-Wide Yard sale. Sellers can register to host a sale at their own location - no transporting your sale items further than your own yard, driveway, or garage! (Or hold your sale in the parking lot behind the library, if you prefer.) Free maps will be provided so that buyers can visit all the sales.
How it works:
Sellers fill out a registration form and return it to the library NO LATER THAN June 8, 2018 with a $25 donation to the Friends of the RHL. Sellers will receive a yard sign to help buyers find their sale.
Free maps (including sale locations and items listed for sale) will be available to all at the library, town hall, and online after June 11, 2018.
This is a great way to get rid of those items around your house that you’ve been meaning to get rid of but don’t want to haul anywhere—or to get a great Father’s Day gift at a bargain price. Because the sale is actually held at your house, there is no need to transport the items you’re selling farther than your yard, driveway or garage.
All proceeds go to the Friends of the Reuben Hoar Library to help pay for museum passes and programs for residents of all ages.
For more information about the sale, please contact Judy Grande at 978-807-5831 or email the Friends at reubenHoarLibraryFriends@gmail.com
