What is Tactical Urbanism?
"Tactical Urbanism is all about action. Also known as DIY Urbanism, Planning-by-Doing, Urban Acupuncture, or Urban Prototyping, this approach refers to a city, organizational, and/or citizen-led approach to neighborhood building using short-term, low-cost, and scalable interventions to catalyze long-term change. Youth identified a Safe Walk to School as a priority for a Tactical Urbanism project. Organized for Climate Week, and in cooperation with the Village, young people learned about crosswalk and sidewalk requirements, came up with a design that brought in elements of nature and the school colors, and implemented it in time for the Walk/Bike to School Day. COMING SOON.....Where is Crystal Lake? Believe it or not, not everyone knows. There are no signs. Help more folks in Rhinebeck discover the beauty of Crystal Lake. Contact the Village Board and ask for better signage. Then contact Trustee Lewitt and share your views on how Crystal Lake can be better used by the community. The Youth Voices Workshop had some great ideas on how it can be improved.
