By editing and reformatting an existing document, the student practiced utilizing styles, themes, headers, tables of contents, and cover pages to create a well-structured and professional-looking file. The assignment also emphasized digital literacy by requiring the conversion of the document to a PDF format and sharing it via Google Drive. Additionally, the peer assessment component allowed for valuable feedback and evaluation based on a structured rubric, enhancing both editing and critical analysis skills. Using the rubric to assess a classmate’s assignment not only helped the student understand the expectations for quality work but also provided valuable practice for when they become an educator, as they will need to evaluate student work fairly and effectively. This activity was a great way to strengthen proficiency in word processing and prepare for future tasks that require polished, organized documents.
