Being in the classroom feels like home. Ever since I first stepped in front of students in 1997, I've known that teaching was my calling. Nearly three decades later, I still principally see myself as a teacher and mentor.
In my 20+ years of teaching, I've taught at both the undergraduate and graduate level--large lecture, small seminar, online and face-to-face, hands-on production courses and lecture-based courses. Selected courses include the following:
Communication Research Methods
Audience Analysis
Communication Research Technologies
Mass Communication Theory and Society
Contemporary Issues in Communication Technology
Seminar in Sports Media
Producing for Sports
Data Analysis
Video Production & Editing
I have had the priveldege of working with or supervising nearly 100 graduate students and countless undergraduate students on theses, dissertations, or directed research. Past students and advisees now teach at leading universities across the country:
Arizona State University
Ball State University
Florida State University
Michigan State University
Texas Christian University
Texas State University
University of Alabama
University of Tennessee
I am a member of the Teaching Academy at Texas Tech University (2012) and recipient of the President's Excellence in Teaching Award at TTU (2010).
