In February 2024, I took up an appointment as Professor of Applied English Linguistics at the University of Bonn (more information on my working group's website). Before that, I was Associate Professor of English Linguistics at the Department of English, University of Hamburg, and Research Ass. Professor at the Hong Kong Baptist University.

In 2023, we started working on a project on Young German Learner English: Complexity, Accuracy and Fluency in Beginner & Intermediate EFL, funded by the DFG/German Research Foundation, in collaboration with PD Dr. Valentin Werner (Bamberg) and Dr. Anna Rosen (Freiburg).
We are continuing work in our project on The Impact of Public Discourse on Health Care Utilization during the COVID-19 Pandemic, funded by the DFG/German Research Foundation, in collaboration with Prof. Jonas Schreyögg and Dr. Esra Bayindir, Hamburg Center for Health Economics
An edited volume on Speech Rhythm in Learner and Second Language Varieties of English appeared in 2023 in Springer's Prosody, Phonology and Phonetics series.
