Keller Shake
3rd and 4th Grade Competition
3rd and 4th Grade Competition
Keller Shake is a district wide competition for all Keller ISD 3rd and 4th grade students. The competition gives each student the opportunity to practice using social and conversational skills they are learning in theatre classes, including voice, diction, eye contact, and a confident greeting. There are 4 rounds of competition where students will display and be judged on how well they perform these skills. A class round, a campus round, a semi-final round and a final round. This is an optional competition. All students will learn the skills in class and practice conversations, but they will NOT be required to audition for the competition.
Click the button at the top of the page, "Online Audition Form", and fill out the permission form. Your student will need to meet in the drama room after school on Thursday, September 21st. They will need to be picked up at the front of the school at 5pm.
Class Round - We will learn in class how using a greeting, having strong eye contact, initiating an appropriate conversation with an adult, and listening well during a conversation will produce memorable communication with adults and peers alike. Students will have the option to audition after school on Thursday, September 21st. All students auditioning will receive an email on Saturday, September 23rd, letting them know if they will need to attend the quarter finals round.
Quarter Finals - Twenty students will be chosen from 4th and 3rd grade theatre classes to attend an after school Mock-Keller Shake audition for the five spots on the RES Keller Shake Team. This audition will occur on Wednesday, October 4th. Your student will receive a letter notifying them if s/he will move onto Semi-Finals on Friday, October 6th. If your student moves on to Semi-Finals, there will be 4 mandatory before school practices from 7-7:45am.
Semi Finals - The 5 students chosen will travel to Semi Finals and compete against students from other elementary schools during the school day on Monday, October 30th. If your student moves on to Finals, there will be 3 mandatory before school practices from 7-7:45am.
Finals - Students that do well at semi finals may have the opportunity to advance and compete in Finals after school on Thursday, November 9th from 4-6pm.
