Guidelines and Policies for Power Ball

1. Power Ball play will begin at 5:45 PM on March 27th 2024.

2. Switch to 6:00 PM on April 3

3. Switch to 5:45 PM on September 11

4. End Power Ball play for this season on September 18, 2019.

5. The Restaurant/Bar will remain open on Wednesday nights until 9:00PM.

6. Any Golf Member of The Golf Club @ The Resort is welcome to play.

7. Players who are not golf members of The Golf Club @ The Resort must be either a family member of a member or an invited guest and must pay Green fees and Cart fees in the Pro Shop before play.

8. If a player with an unverified handicap or unknown level of play participates, that player will be assigned a reasonable handicap by the Team Builder. This event is designed for the fun and competition of The Resort Membership and all monies put into the Power Ball pot should be reserved for those members, their guests and friends. This is a fun, social event and should not be used to supplement anyone’s income.

9. You must sign up on the Resort email by 5:00 PM on Wednesday to play. All efforts will be made to accommodate anyone who signs up in, however, the teams must be built and scorecards printed in time for tee off and it may be too complicated to redo in short order.

10. The Pro Shop will make a shotgun start available for the number of teams called in by 5:00 PM.

11. You must check in with the Team Builder in the Restaurant/Bar at least 30 minutes prior to tee time. If you are running late, please call the Pro Shop so that you will still be included on a team. If the Team Builder has not heard from someone on the list 30 minutes prior to tee time, that person will not be included on a team. Check in and pay before you go warm up or putt.

12. If you want to eat something after Power Ball, place your order at the Bar before play. Again, we are here to have fun, so please drink up and tip the bartender.

13. Teams will be assembled as equitably as possible. In the event of uneven number of participants, the Team Builder may have to build teams of unequal number of golfers. If one or more teams has less players than the other teams, that team will get an extra shot from each position given to each member of the team in a strict rotation, e.g. Player A, then B, then C, then repeat the same order.

14. The Fifth Wheel Rule: We attempt to include Members of all skill levels and those who may not be comfortable in a competitive setting. If a high Handicapper wishes to play, they may be put on a team with a spouse or a friend.  If this player gives a team an extra member, the Team Builder may declare the extra player “a fifth wheel” and no extra strokes will be given to the other teams. This player will be someone who wants to play, but may not play well enough to add to the teams scoring ability. This will be the Team Builder’s decision and will be stated before play. Again, we are trying to be equitable, yet still have fun and include all members.

15. Men will play from the Blue Tees unless the combination of age and handicap exceeds 80, then they will be allowed to tee from the White Tees, or age and handicap exceeds 90, then they will be allowed to tee from the Red Tees,. Women will play from the Red Tees.

16. In the event of dangerous weather affecting the game, a horn will be sounded and play will stop. All players will return to the clubhouse. If play cannot be finished safely by sunset, all money will be returned to the players and we’ll drink.

17. The cost of Power Ball will be $8. (Invited Family and Guest will pay the Pro Shop for green fee and cart.)

18. $5 will go to the winning scramble team(s) after each Power Ball. (No carryover)

19. $3 will go to the Power Ball pot. (carried over until won)

20. After play, a numbered ball will be drawn. If one team has the single best score on the corresponding hole, they win the Power Ball pot. If no team has the single best score on that hole, the Power Ball pot is rolled over until the next week. On the final day of play in September, the Power Ball pot will be split among all teams with the lowest subpar score on the Power Ball hole. If no team has a birdie or better on that Power Ball hole, another ball will be drawn until a team or teams wins the pot with a subpar score.

21. Payouts will be made as follows:

-- If we have 6 or more teams, we will pay three (2) places. (60%/40%)

-- If we have 10 or more teams, we will pay three (3) places. (50%/30%/20%)

-- All ties for payout places will be paid on a scorecard playoff (Hole 4, then 9, then 6, then 8, then 7, then 3, then 1, then 2), according to hole handicaps on the scorecard.

-- If there is a tie for 1st place, the scramble pot will be split equally. If two teams tie for 2nd place, 1st place gets 60% and 40% is paid to the winner of the scorecard playoff.

-- The Power Ball pot will accrue in value until one team wins the Power Ball drawing. If there is no winner and the pot is over $100, the pot will be paid out at the end of May and the end of July. If there is any carryover at the end of the Power Ball season the pot will be paid out.

-- If no team has the single best score on the drawn hole number, the Power Ball pot is rolled over until the next week.  If no team has won the Power Ball pot on a normal drawing (including the last day), on the final day of play in May, July or September, the Power Ball pot will be split among all teams with the lowest subpar score on the Power Ball hole. If no team has a birdie or better on that Power Ball hole, another ball will be drawn until a team or teams wins the pot with a subpar score.
