PB Format-Scoring

Format and Scoring for Power Ball (Scramble)

1. Each team will consist of four players selected as equitably as possible from the list of players signed up from the Website (resortmga). The Team Builder will use handicaps to set up teams with players of varying skills, i.e. A, B, C, and D players. Handicaps will be updated on 15 May and 15 July. The team handicaps will not always be exactly the same, however, the Team Builder will always try to build the teams as fairly as possible. The more players that sign up gives the Team Builder the best opportunity to create equitable teams.

2. If there are a number of players not divisible equally by four, the Team Builder will attempt to create equal teams of three or five players on each team. If all teams cannot have the same number of players, the team(s) with fewer players than the other teams will get an extra shot from each ball position given to one member of the team in a strict rotation, e.g. Player A, then B, then C, then repeat the same order. **Players deemed “a fifth wheel” by the Team Builder will not count as an extra player for extra shots.

3. The scramble format is as follows. After all players have teed off, one of the balls hit from the tee will be selected and each player will then hit their ball from that position. After each player has hit from that position, one ball will again be selected and each player will again hit the ball from that position. Play will continue in this manner until the ball is holed out. There is no restriction on how many shots from each team member must be used.

4. Each ball will be hit from a position no closer to the hole and within one club length from the original ball. On the green, each player will putt the ball from the same position as the original ball (no club length here; we’re talking inches).

5. If the ball selected is inside the boundaries of a hazard (including sand bunkers) the player that hit the original ball will play their ball as it lies first. Then each following player will place their ball in the same position and in a similar lie as the original ball and play their shot from there. You may rake the bunker to recreate the lie of the original ball.

6. One member of each team will keep score by marking the number of strokes taken for each hole. When all holes are played, the scorekeeper will add the total for all nine holes and turn the card into the Team Builder. Please don’t mark the difference to par. This method of score keeping makes it easier to determine the scramble winner and which holes are open for the Power Ball drawing.

7. This event is for fun and fellowship, and not for a great amount of money. So, please be honest and try to finish in two hours so we can draw the Power Ball, make the payouts and get to the drinking. Don’t forget to tip your server.

8. Any issues, problems or comments should be addressed to the Team Builder. A decision will be made and all players will be informed as to the outcome so we can all play by the same rules going forward.
