STEP 1: Applying for the residency permit at "Enter Hungary" 

1. Go to the Enter Hungary website

2. Create an account - look for the "make a registration" link towards the lower right side

3. Sign in to your account and start a new case

4. Choose "Application for residency permit"

5. Choose "Pursuing studies or student mobility"

At this point "EDIT: APPLICATION FOR RESIDENCE PERMIT" appears and you can start working on that. See instructions below.

NOTE that in reality the application consists of 4 parts, as shown by the tabs  which appear once you submit this - the first - part of your application. The four parts are titled "Application for residence permit", "Pursuing studies or student mobility", " "Notification of accommodation/change of accommodation" and  "file attachments". (See the screenshot below.)

Note that the "Notification of accommodation/change of accommodation" form is filled automatically (based on what you enter elsewhere), so you do not need to do anything with that.

  Filling out the "Application for residence permit" tab/form

1.  Choose "no" for both questions in "first application/extension of residence permit"

For the "place of entry" write the city and country where you entered the Schengen region. Eg if you arrived to Budapest by flying from the US to Frankfurt then on to Budapest, enter "Frankfurt, Germany". If you flew to London then to Budapest, enter "Budapest, Hungary", since London is not in the Schengen zone.

2. Fill out "Personal details of the applicant" with your data and the following suggestions:

when asking for "vocational training" they would like to know if you are a carpenter or nurse etc. Enter "none" if you have no such training or the traning you have.

NOTE! The field "nationality" is not mandatory!

3. Enter your "passport details"

4. Enter "Details of the applicant's accommodation in Hungary" according to the email you received from BSM about this. Check your spam folder! If the email is lost ask for a copy at office@bsmath.hu

5. For the question about your insurance choose the last option: "Rendelkezem teljes körű Egészségbiztositással" (if it appears in Hungarian) or the English version: "I have comprehensive health insurance".

6.  Fill out "Conditions on returning or travelling onward" based on where you are planning to go after completion of the BSM program.

7.  Leave all questions relating to spouses, relatives, children intact.

8.  Enter your US or other relevant address for the question on your residence prior to coming to Hungary.

"name of public place" is the name of your street/square/avenue etc

"type of public place" can be "street", "square", "Ave" etc

9. Most of you will say "no" to having a valid residency permit in another Schengen country.

10.  Fill out "other data" based on your situation.

11.  Fill out the last two sections according to the suggestions below. The phonenumber is the BSM hotline. 

Write May 31st, 2026  for "How long are you applying to stay for?"

12.  Fill out the DECLARATIONS with your data, then click SAVE

13. Now you are ready to fill out the ""Pursuing studies or student mobility"" tab/form. Click here for more info on that.
