-Inherited relationships shifting form-
This project is should not be seen as a completed work. The artistic process is kept alive by inviting new participants with other skills and expressions – a reflection of society at large where relationships are inherited and at the same time transformed.
This work is rooted in the Japanese theatrical philosophy of 'MITATE.' Within this conceptual framework, I merge various artistic disciplines with the dancer’s physicality. Since 2022, the project has evolved through continuous research, expanding with the addition of new artistic collaborators in each iteration.
While grounded in contemporary dance, the work weaves together diverse disciplines, including textile design, puppetry, tap dance, and krump. The soundscape is constructed through live recording and looping of environmental sounds, interlaced with layers of sound generated by the performers. The sounds captured by the loop system linger in the space like memories tied to a location, bridging the visible world with the past enacted on stage.
SKUMITATE -ärvda relationer byter skepnad- gives body to what we cannot yet see, or fully understand, but feel.
