Drawings: Tracing the Physical Thought
Drawing acts as the silent foundation of CRAFT’s creative process.
By layering various textures and seeking a sense of equilibrium on paper, this improvisational research captures the essence of movement before it reaches the body. The tension, the weight, and the negative space found in these drawings are translated into the dancers' physicality and the visual composition of the stage.
At a certain point in this process, there is a moment when the drawing seems to acquire its own autonomous life—a sense that the work has begun to breathe. This experience closely mirrors the sensation of discovering a narrative within the collaborative research process, where a story naturally emerges from the shared exploration with my fellow creators.
