Universitas Mulawarman is a prestigious public university located in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, Indonesia, which has been providing quality education since its establishment on September 27, 1962. Being the oldest higher education institution in East Kalimantan, it has proven its excellence over the years. With a remarkable number of over 35,000 students, Universitas Mulawarman is the top university in Kalimantan, which is a testament to its outstanding reputation and academic standards. The university has its main campus located in Gunung Kelua, and other campuses in Pahlawan Road, Banggeris Street, and Flores Street in Samarinda.
The shield of Mulawarman University consists of a green base color that represents knowledge. It features a tangle of rattan in yellow to symbolize the unity among different ethnic groups and tribes in Indonesia. A black and white boat is also present encircling the sides of the circle. Inside the circle, a white-brown jar is placed to signify the university's commitment to advancing knowledge science. In rural areas of East Kalimantan, jars are utilized to store sacred items and the bones of ancestors.

From the perspective of time, FKIP UNMUL has gone through a long history as a faculty that carries out the mandate of implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education in the region's education field. Now, Mulawarman University has 13 (thirteen) faculties with various study programs, and FKIP Unmul is still one of the favorite faculties with a large number of students and is a reference in providing education in the provinces of East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan. During my visit, I had the privilege to witness and participate in two Chemistry study program sessions. One of the most interesting aspects was comparing the laboratory experiments between Indonesia and the Philippines. I thoroughly observed and analyzed the techniques and practices of both countries. Upon reflection, I would like to highlight some key differences I noticed, particularly regarding the Indonesian laboratory.
