New Classes Starts January 6-31, 2023
Do you like to exercise? Do you want to exercise in a body positive atmosphere? Then this class is for you! You don't need coordination or be a dancer, you just want to sweat and exercise your body. Come and enjoy fun and upbeat music and exercise for all levels. I love music. This is a low impact and high intensity class that combines everything I have learned in my life such as salsa, merengue, ballet, pilates and the exercises you have always done at home. We work the floor with the mat to strengthen and lengthen the muscles and develop core strength. It is a varied and fun class!
Why is exercise important?
Regular exercise is one of the best things you can do for your health, and you will quickly begin to see and feel the benefits that consistent physical activity can have on your body and well-being. Physical activity can improve muscle strength and increase endurance. Exercise supplies oxygen and nutrients to tissues and helps the cardiovascular system work more efficiently. And when your heart and lung health improves, you have more energy to do daily chores.
Teen Ballet and Pointe Series
New Classes Starts January 6-31, 2023
Pointe Level 1: Mondays 6pm NEW CLASS (In Person Only)
Stretching Level 2: Thursdays 5pm
Ballet Level 2: Thursdays 6pm
Have you always dreamed of being a ballerina? And use your pointe shoes? Feel like you're flying in your tutu on stage? What if all these dreams came true? It is not a secret that it is quite complicated to start with a ballet class, and even more so if you are an adult. The muscles and joints are no longer as flexible as when we were children, nor do we have enough muscular strength; In addition, for a pointe class it is very important to have previous knowledge of classical ballet.
For this class, special shoes called “pointe shoes” are required and we need to know everything from how to choose the right ones for our feet, to how to prepare and put them on. I teach ballet through an evaluated and qualified program with great results from my Cuban ballet school. I will follow this same program to teach you level 1 pointe.
Did you take Ballet from another school?
If you have previous knowledge of ballet from another school and want to learn level 1 Pointe you are welcome to join this class. Please contact Griset first to make sure that you qualify.
What are the requirements?
To start the pointe class level 1 students must have taken stretching and half pointe ballet for three years
Are 12 years old+
Ready for this new experience,
Excited
Must take all 3 of these classes: Pointe Level 1, Stretching Level 2 and Ballet Level 2
Flamenco Level 2: Saturdays 1:10pm
New Classes Starts January 6-31, 2023
With this Flamenco por Colombianas course you will learn a complete choreography and you will begin to use one of the typical complements of flamenco dance such as the pericón fan. You will have an explanatory lesson of the basic techniques for the use of this complement. Its initial movements are taught that little by little you will expand with the choreography.
The Colombiana is an American-influenced dance, back and forth dance. Its rhythm is binary and it has a cheerful, sensual and mischievous character. Very colorful and striking dance since the pericón fan makes it more lucid.
Structure of the dance!
It begins with a guitar falseta in which initial poses are developed.
It is followed by a first letter with its markings, walks and necessary auctions.
It is followed by a second falseta in which a block of tapping is developed
Finally, a second letter with which our choreography ends.
What are the requirements?
It is important to acquire the musical theme: "What would be my luck" by the artist "La Macanita", the Album "Luna Nueva".
A pericón fan (large size fan, 46x88cm). I can lend the pericón but it is better that each student has her own instrument. It is important not to buy or use the small fan in class.
It is necessary to master the basic techniques of Flamenco, that is, to have taken level 1 classes with Griset or in another dance studio.
It is recommended the use of flamenco dance shoes, pericón, skirts and comfortable clothes to dance.
What am I going to learn in this course for Colombiana with pericón?
You will learn a choreography by Colombianas of 3 minutes.
You will expand your Flamenco resources, the coordination of your movements and, ultimately, your level of knowledge.

With this course you will learn to dance Fandango. We work on a musical theme danceable by fandango de Huelva, a flamenco palo with ternary compass, lively and cheerful.
Technique (arms-barceos-feet- compass)
First level castanets
Choreography (Fandango de Huelva)
Dance Fandango de Huelva
Musical theme of the artist Chicuelo who bears the name "Fandango de Huelva" from the album "Diapasón".
For this choreography we will work on different twists, variations and tap dances. It contains a letter as a chorus that is repeated twice and gives it a very flamenco character. As it is a three-beat compás we can use many mixed compás markings that, in turn, can be used for other styles such as alegrías or soleá por bulerías, in short, you will expand your resources for both compás.
The Flamenco Style of the Fandango
The Fandango is one of the most primitive songs that exist, of Arabic and Portuguese origin, somewhat reminiscent of the Portuguese fado and is the result of the mixture of cultures that have influenced its creation. It has evolved a lot over time incorporating instruments and flamenco dance, which has given rise to other flamenco styles such as malagueña, granaínas, jaberas or Tarantos. It is considered one of the fundamental styles of flamenco. After this course you will be prepared to move on to level 2 of the study.
Which are the requirements?
It is a simple choreography and it is explained step by step, no previous knowledge of Flamenco is necessary to follow this course.
We will start with the general technique of the arms, barceos, stomping and movements prior to the choreography.
The use of flamenco dance shoes, skirts and comfortable dance clothes is essential.
I could lend castanets to all the students, but it is better for everyone to have their own instrument (before buying ask Griset's advice)
What will I learn in this course?
Dance Fandango of 4 min.
Complete choreography by Fandango of 4 min.
You will also learn numerous ternary time signatures, which you can use both in choreographies of this time signature and in those that use mixed time.
In short, a very beautiful choreography to expand your flamenco repertoire.

NEW KIDS CLASS! Beginning Ballet for Ages 7-12: Fridays 4:40pm
New Classes Starts January 6-31, 2023
Ballet is a classical dance style that is practiced in a group (private classes make the student raise their level a lot). Children who practice it acquire many benefits like increased coordination, musical listening skills and creativity. If you have a 3-year-old daughter, you might consider enrolling her in ballet classes so she can learn basic, well-coordinated movements while playing. By the time she is 7 years old, she will be ready to learn ballet techniques better.
What are the requirements?
Ballet clothing: ballet shoes, pink leggings, black leotard, little black skirt and hair up and pulled away from the face.
What will you learn in my class?
I follow a program evaluated and written many years ago from my Cuban ballet school. It is a program that has led many Cuban dancers to be great ballet stars. In my studio, a professional program is not studied, since a child who takes this class once a week does not get the same results as those children who take ballet every day. That being said, the results are still wonderful just with less pressure than a professional based program. My students still excel and attain excellent ballet skills. I am very proud of the results obtained.
enefits of classical ballet
The whole body must be in total harmony to perform the 7 basic movements that can be seen in representation of this dance, such as bending, stretching, jumping, turning, sliding, raising and throwing. It is an excellent exercise to improve the flexibility of the body, coordination and motor skills, while improving lung capacity and muscle tone. Creativity, imagination and concentration are also developed, so that feelings can be better controlled and expressed.
By practicing it in a group, teamwork is stimulated, shyness is lost when developing personality, self-esteem is favored and symptoms of anxiety or stress for children are reduced . They become lifelong friends and help your child maintain a healthy weight.
I love teaching this class and seeing the girls and boys improve each class.
