"Ability is what you're capable of doing.
Motivation determines what you do. Attitude determines how well you do it"
~ Lou Holtz
I believe effective educators are lifelong learners who continuously seek opportunities to expand their knowledge, refine their instructional practices, and better serve their students. Through professional development experiences, I have strengthened my understanding of evidence-based teaching strategies, leadership practices, literacy instruction, and innovative approaches to student engagement. Each learning opportunity has contributed to my growth as an educator and has provided me with tools and strategies that positively impact student achievement.
LETRS Professional Learning
I completed the Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) professional learning program, a comprehensive literacy training designed to deepen educators’ understanding of the science of reading. Through this experience, I developed a stronger foundation in phonological awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and evidence-based literacy instruction.
My completion documentation includes my LETRS transcript, assessment scores, attendance records, Certificate of Mastery, and course completion certificate, demonstrating my commitment to continuous professional growth and effective literacy instruction.
IMSE Morphology Plus District
I completed the Institute for Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE) Morphology Plus professional development program, which focused on strengthening literacy instruction through explicit teaching of morphology and word structure. This training enhanced my ability to support students in developing vocabulary, decoding skills, spelling patterns, and a deeper understanding of how words are formed and connected.
Through this professional development experience, I gained practical strategies to implement structured literacy practices that support diverse learners and promote reading success.
Ron Clark Academy Experience
I had the opportunity to participate in professional learning at the Ron Clark Academy, an innovative educational experience focused on student engagement, classroom culture, leadership, and creative instructional practices. This experience inspired me to think beyond traditional teaching methods and explore ways to create a positive, energetic, and meaningful learning environment for students. Through this experience, I gained strategies for building strong relationships, increasing student motivation, fostering collaboration, and creating a classroom culture where every student feels valued and empowered.
Upon returning to my school, I was eager to apply what I had learned by sharing these ideas with colleagues and administration. I advocated for the implementation of a House System to strengthen school culture, encourage collaboration, and promote student leadership. I also established and served on our school’s House Committee, where we worked together to develop initiatives, plan activities, and generate ideas that fostered a more connected, supportive, and engaging environment for both students and staff. This experience not only strengthened my instructional practices but also reinforced my passion for leading positive change and cultivating a school culture where every member of the community can thrive.
HarvardX – Leaders of Learning
I completed the HarvardX Leaders of Learning course, an online professional learning experience offered through HarvardX and Harvard University’s online learning initiative. This course explored leadership in education, including how leaders influence learning environments, support innovation, and create opportunities for meaningful change.
Through this experience, I expanded my understanding of educational leadership and reflected on the role educators play in shaping schools, supporting students, and contributing to positive educational communities.
