With similar experiences, both refugees find this work rewarding and necessary to help make the assimilation process into American culture easier and to encourage the refugees to not lose sense of their own country of origins identity. Both refugees stated that doing this work has brought together a community that reenacts the idea of a family system. This research also concluded that gender was not a factor when looking at how the journey of Sophia and Robert have affected their work at the center.
