Roee Marom z”l was born on December 12, 2001
Roee was the eldest son of Tali and Ra’anan, and brother to Shira, Michal and Eyal.
Roee grew up in Ra’anana and studied at Meterverst High School in the Nachshon class for social leadership. He was active in the Zofim Youth Movemenr, guided and led all age-groups and in 12th grade was nominated for Tribe Director Ofek.
Roee loved to seep sea dive and specialized in free style diving. He went diving at every possible opportunity. Roee stood out with his kind smile, his unending attention and concern for all and any people, whether old or young, and his ability to touch people and make a difference in their lives – both small and large.
Roee was drated on December 9, 2021 into Hativat Kfir and was placed as a combat soldier in Sayeret Haruv. He was then nominated to train as a unit commander and was in charge of a unit in the Gdud 906. His friends and officers share three things that were characteristic of Roee.
Firstly, his professionalism. In anything he did, he prepared, researched and learn everything – asked questions and persisted until he received all of the information and was satisfied. He excelled at every stage of his promotions through the army ranks.
He was an activist and leader on every level and any challenge – he enthused and led people to succeed at any and all tasks and projects on the highest of levels.
Lastly, his devotion and belief in serving his country as long as we can remember. He believed in taking care of the weak and only then, himself.
That vision is the way he led and one of the statements that he made as he entered Gaza was “If I die, please take care of the at-risk youth, if I don’t die, I will return to do it myself.”
Roee was a commander who strove for excellence, had infinite energy, exuded confidence everywhere he went, smiled and was loved by all.
Throughout the battles in the Swords of Iron war, Roee led his unit Gdud 906 in Gaza against a brutal enemy. He fell in a battle in the Northern section of the Gaza Strip on November 13, 2023.
Roee was 21 when he fell, and was buried in the Military Cemetery in Ra’anana.
May his memory be blessed.
