The Balfour Golf Course was designed by Les Furber and boasts a 6,800 yard, 18-hole layout with features you would expect only from a premium-rated golf experience. This course is just a quick 5 minute drive from Redfish Lakehouse. Other golf courses in the area include Granit Pointe and Kokanee Springs.

Endless adventures await if you're an outdoor enthusiast. We are just a quick 5 minute drive to the entrance of Kokanee Glacier Park Road. This park doesn't allow dogs.

High Terrain Helicopters offers various tours, heli-biking options and they partner with Stelar Heliskiing to offer back country skiing opportunities in the Selkirk and Purcell mountain ranges. Check them out at highterrainhelicopters.com.

Endless adventures offers fun guided tours along Slocan River and Nelson paddle boarding and Kayak offers kayak/paddle board rentals in Nelson. Kaslo Kayaking also offers kayak and paddle board rentals and have dropped water craft off at our home in the past.

There's no shortage of hot springs either! Ainsworth Hot Springs is a short 18 minute drive from Redfish Lakehouse. Other options include Halcyon Hot Springs, Nakusp Hot Springs and if you're feeling adventurous you can check out the natural Halfway Hot Springs (not accessible in winter). We recommend viewing the facility websites prior to going as some require reservations.
Nelson has a huge selection of really greatrestaurants and coffee shops. Our personal favourites are Broken Hill, Cantina Del Centro, Yum Son, and the Black Cauldron to name a few. We also recommend visiting Oso Negro Coffee while you're here - It's a local favourite. Along with the hidden gem the Proctor Village Café for their famous cinnamon buns - Locals ride their bikes here in the summer for this freshly baked treat.
Nelson and area is home to some amazing breweries. Torchlight, Backroads, and Nelson Brewing are our local favourites. Travel to some neighbouring communities to visit Angry Hen, Tailout, Erie Creek and Trail Brewing Company. Take a look at the BC Ale Trail website to plan your tour.
There's no shortage of winter sports here. Local ski hills include Whitewater and Red Mountain Resort. If cross country skiing is your jam then checking out the Nelson Nordic Ski Club, Black Jack ski trails in Rossland, Paulson Cross Country Ski Trails or various rail trails locally. There are also many snow shoeing spots with our favourite being Nancy Greene Provincial Park. We also recommend checking out She Shreds - they offer back country snow mobile experiences.
