William Blake
Agent Crawford had the letter analyzed and found chemical traces and fingerprints. They are starting to get a sense of what the killer’s environment is like.
Graham, from so much traveling, was very tired. He was also very nervous because the killer had taken an interest in him. Graham was reading an article about Will, and Lecter talks about the terrifying facts about the Tooth Fairy disturbing facts. Somehow, the killer and Dr. Hannibal are communicating through that journal. Will, in desperation, realized that Lecter is bait. Will is still in his in-depth study of the victims, looking for patterns or clues to the killer and trying to predict where he will strike.
He wanted to receive a message from the Tooth Fairy next week. Will wants to kill him. Although there was talk in the police force that Dr. Hannibal would not be good bait, the paper was already set to be released, and Will was preparing. He gave a warning to Chicago in case the plan failed. The FBI agents wanted the Tooth Fairy to see a section where Dr. Hannibal sends him a message. He will warn him that he is going to be caught. As a murderer, he had made a mistake in his crime in Atlanta. Apparently, the killer got the message.
Will and Molly, his wife, traveled to Washington for their safety. There was a person who called himself Mr. Pilgrim. Who was he? Will and Crawford wondered. Maybe he was the Tooth Fairy. According to Mr. Pilgrim, he is six foot five inches tall. During the call, they were exchanging information over the phone.
William Blake
They called on the phone: Freddy Lounds had been captured. He is a journalist whom Will already knew some time ago. They asked him if he was going to press charges, but Will didn’t want to hear from him. Freddy works at the Tattler newspaper, which spreads information about the cases. Will hates Lounds. According to psychiatrist Bloom, the Tooth Fairy has a violent and deceptive personality.
Crawford, on the phone, gave Will some news: the Tooth Fairy had captured Freddy Lounds. Will asked Lounds what the killer looked like, but he couldn’t answer.
Lounds had been tortured. Lounds was asked to follow up on the killer's leads. According to Freddy, he had a truck, but it was stolen. He had to remember the license plate of the truck, but Will knew that the killer already knew everything.
Freddy claimed that the killer had read the newspaper with the message left for him. The killer had left a peculiar message: “The strength of the Great Red Dragon.” What did he mean?
REFLECTION
In these chapters, I realized how the killer (the Tooth Fairy) and Dr. Hannibal Lecter manipulate the situation, and how Will feels exhausted. It makes me reflect that a job can exhaust you mentally.
Hannibal's manipulation towards Will, he knows his weakness in emotions, how a person can manipulate being in a cell. In fact, we were all once manipulated or were the manipulator.
Also, the murderer, for just seeing a painting, thinks he is a superior being. In the world, there are also disturbed people with a tragic past.
