• Which story are his parents referring to when they are upset that Little Good Wolf plays with pigs? In this book there are several references to other stories. Which ones can you recognize? 

• Taking well known characters and making them into a new story is done pretty frequently. When fairy tale characters  are changed significantly, they are called fractured fairy tales. Can you think of other stories that are fractured fairy tales?

• Some people (even in the same family) can value different things. How is this a struggle in the wolf family? 

• Little Wolf likes to help others. What are some things you do to help others?

• Little Wolf is given a magical apple that can change everything. Why do you think he didn’t use it? 

• The book is designed to be turned 3 times to allow for a longer illustration. Do you know other books that do this?

• The wolves and some other characters wear simple clothing. Make clothing for stuffed animal friends out of fabric or paper and tape.

• Search the library for other fractured fairy tales using your online catalog or index cards of the books with their call numbers. You might need to use character names, as “fractured fairy tale” only turns up 4 titles  in this writer’s OPAC. Three pigs yielded 20 titles including traditional and fractured versions. • Research if wolves typically would eat the animals that Little Good Wolf plays with.

• Prince A. Bull is a word play on the job of that character - principal. Create humorous names for different animals with jobs or fun names for people that have particular jobs. Ex. Music teacher = Cyn A. Song

• The Giant uses a rhyme from Jack and the Beanstalk (Fee, fie, fo, fum, I smell the blood of an Englishman!) but makes his own version (Fee! Fie! Foe! Foo! I smell you! A good wolf? Ewwww!”. Take a well known rhyme or poem and change it into something new.
