Accessing recipes through cooking shows and cookbooks has remained the same but have drastically developed from the early to mid-1980s to modern-day times in their production quality, formality, graphic design style, and types of recipe content with the influence of new technology and trends. In analyzing four artifacts, there are distinct differences in the recipes provided in cookbooks and cooking shows. In the early to mid-1980s, the popularity of cable television was prominent in family households. In addition, society was also more aware of their health and well-being with motivation to try new foods. Recipes were traditionally circulated in cookbook form with occasional cooking shows and specials. In contrast, consuming colorful and vibrant healthy foods from new and intriguing recipes on social media is popular in society today. Recipes are now circulated in more informal ways, like YouTube cooking shows and other social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok. Traditional cookbooks are now published with up-to-date graphics and content. There are now online e-cookbooks, revealing the development of cookbooks. The circulation of recipes remains the same in shows and cookbooks but has developed in style and content tremendously from the early to mid-1980s to current times with the help of technology and new trends. In this exhibit, we will pinpoint the developmental aspects of artifacts published in the 1980s and currently.
