Magliano Alpi (Majan in Piedmontese) is an Italian municipality of 2,175 inhabitants in the province of Cuneo in Piedmont. It is a small agricultural center located on the outskirts of Mondovì.
The municipality is divided into two completely distinct territorial units: a northern one, bordering the municipality of Mondovì (420 m above sea level) and hosting the municipal headquarters, the other southern one (almost completely non-anthropic), close to the Ligurian Alps, delimited from the towns of Ormea, Frabosa Soprana and Frabosa Sottana. The two territorial fractions are approximately 50 km away from each other.
This peculiarity is due to the fact that the town (which in fact is located entirely in the north) has maintained its jurisdiction even over the lands where in previous centuries the Maglianese population had obtained the right to graze their livestock.
The peaks of the Raschera, the Seirasso (2435 m) and the Brignola fall within the municipal territory; there are also three lakes that bear the name of the mountains in question.
With a decree dated 14 July 1698, Duke Vittorio Amedeo II of Savoy sanctioned the dismemberment of the District of Mondovì and established, the following year, thirteen new municipalities, including Magliano Alpi.[4]
Its Mayor, Marco Bailo, is now in his fourth term and is the promoter and leader of the RECALL project.

With the end of the territorial administrative reform in 2009, the parishes of Pelēču and Saune joined the Preiļu district.
On July 1, 2021, a new Preiļi County was created by merging Preiļi County, Aglona Parish, the counties of Vārkavas and Riebiņu.
