One of the issues working with hobby projects while also being full time on a large project is that you don't have much time to work on that hobby project.
As a solution to that problem I changed my approach to instead of making one full game to make many mini games in one larger container. This frees me up from doing too much art and detail work and can instead focus on the ideas.

Collecting resources is a simple yet satisfying element in many games and the satisfying movement of a giant walker can be combined to create an arcade feeling game.
