This verse follows the main events and timeline of Fangs of Fortune. Starting from the point that he arrives at the Demon Hunting Bureau and leading up to his death in order to save the humans from being turned into false demons. 

This verse takes place before the events of Fangs of Fortune spanning from his younger years when he was still learning to control the malicious energy within through his friendship with Zhao Wan'er, the former Bai Ze Goddess until her death. 

This verse can take place anytime during the timeline. Within it, Zhao Yuanzhou completely loses himself to the malicious energy during a Blood Moon. Unable to regain full conscious thought, he has now fully become the feared evil demon Zhu Yan and under the control of the malicious energy of the world.   

For a basic crossover verse, Zhao Yuanzhou is a great demon and one of the most powerful currently alive. Filled with malicious energy and wishing to find death to end the suffering of falling under its control at key points in his life, he wanders the realms searching for a way to die. 

The only real difference to his backstory here is that Donghua Dijun is the one that owns the Cloud Light Sword. He has long refused to end Zhao Yuanzhou's life and is the one that gave him this name, claiming that it was good for him and then pulling pranks on him when he was bored. The two have thus been in a pranking war for centuries, due to this, and over the centuries, he has also assisted Donghua in various battles without those from the heavenly realm being aware. 

AGE & CULTIVATION: For this verse, these would be equivalent to a Primordial High God, his strength may be marked a little higher than theirs due to him being the vessel for all malicious energy throughout the realms. This is why Donghua will allow him to battle at his side unlike most others. 

DEMON MARKINGS: Unless he specifically hides them, his demon markings on his face are always visible. 

Born 1,000+ years ago, Zhoa Yuanzhou was fed the Malice Malice Fruit as a baby. Due to this, he has grown up unaware of what it is like to swim or live without malice attempting to consume his heart and soul. For the Malice Malice Fruit means that he absorbs the malice of the world, turning him into an immortal vessel for the dark emotions of the world. Cursed to live forever since he can't be killed unless it is by the wielder of a sword long lost to the sea, he wanders the seas and the Grand Line looking for some other way to die. 

Along the way rumors have grown. Stories of the times that a blood moon rises over an island and a demon emerges from its glow. Legends growing that have turned him into what the government now hunts Zhu Yan, the Great Demon.
