SARAH & LILA

WORDS FROM OUR COORDINATORS

"Definitely my favorite role as a coordinator has been talking to the parents. Every day we see the children working diligently with their tutors, but hearing from the parents that they've noticed a difference in their child's reading, or that they've started reading independently always reinforces our commitment to this program."

- Lila

"One of my favorite moments this summer was when I saw a huge personal growth in one of our learners. She was a shy, yet very intelligent young girl, and on the first day she had to be pried from her mother's leg, crying. For the past several weeks she's eagerly been one of the first kids to class, always greeting her classmates and tutor with a smile. I can see she's really come out of her shell, it's so encouraging!"

FROM OUR COMMUNITY...

"I am very happy that I volunteered with RWD. I found it very rewarding getting to know and work with the students and seeing them improve."

- Veda, RWD tutor

I liked that the tutor had very good communication with my son. I was very fortunate to have this at my library and prepare my son for 1st grade."

- Maria, RWD parent

"First of all right from the beginning I was in awe of the professionalism both my coordinators presented. From the conference calls to the actual tutoring sessions, I knew Sarah and Lila were all business and their professionalism pushed me to reciprocate that as well in my duties as a tutor. They gave me sound advice and helped me find my place as a tutor. While I have stated in my earlier responses that my kids were a bit pesky when it came to all things reading, they really were sweet and once they came around to listening I was happy to see them progress and grow in their knowledge."

- Tanya, RWD tutor
