The SWPBS (School Wide Positive Behaviour Support Matrix) is a tool students, families, community members and staff can use to understand the expected behaviours at Rosewood Downs Primary School
To Matrix explains the RDPS expected behaviours. These behaviours support a positive, safe, inclusive and orderly learning environment. The purpose is to create a culture that provides the students with the best chance of personal and academic success.

An essential part of managing student behaviour in your classroom is to acknowledge those students who are demonstrating the expected behaviours.
There are multiple ways for staff to acknowledge students who demonstrate the expected behaviours. Whether they have demonstrated this in one instance or consistently.
The students appreciate, respect and strive from the positive acknowledgment of our staff. It is an essential part of building a positive relationship with students and building an inclusive culture at RDPS
Look at the link below to explore the ways in which you can positively acknowledge your students.
It will also be necessary to occasionally use the Stops process in managing student behaviour. The Stop process exists as a mechanism to reteach and redirect students back to the expected behaviours.
There Stop's also function as a warning for students so that they are aware that they are no longer demonstrating the expected behaviours.
Furthermore they function as a powerful behaviour management tool so that staff can maintain a safe, inclusive and orderly learning environment.
In addition to the Stars and the Stops there is a multitude of common behaviour management strategies that teachers can use as part of their tool kit.
The more tools you have in your tool kit, the more behaviours you can respond effectively to. If teachers can manage student behaviours effectively supporting the student and the whole class to improve learning outcomes.
