History of VEYM
The Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement shares its origin with the international Eucharistic Youth Movement (EYM). Specifically in Việt Nam, the Eucharistic Crusade was established by the St. Sulpice priests in 1929 at a school with traditional religious purposes facilitated by the “École Puginier” brothers in Hà Nội.
Over a period of active development throughout the dioceses, the Eucharistic Crusade released its first Bylaws in 1964 to unify all activities. In 1965, the name was changed to the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement, with emphasis on the mission of educating the youth.
With the continuous momentum of the Movement and to meet the educational needs of young people more effectively, a new Bylaws for the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement was published with the approval of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Vietnam in January of 1971.
After the fall of Sài Gòn in 1975, waves of Vietnamese spanned across the globe seeking refuge. Subsequently, the Vietnamese Eucharistic Youth Movement flourished and developed spectacularly within Vietnamese Catholic communities throughout the world, such as France, Germany, the United States, Canada, Australia...
Đại Hội Hiệp Nhất is a specialised leadership gathering exclusively for Cha Tuyên Úy, Sr Trợ Úy, Ban Chấp Hành Tổng Liên Đoàn/Liên Đoàn, Ban Quản Trị Xứ Đoàn, Huynh Trưởng Cấp III and Huấn Luyện Viên.
Held every 3 years, this gathering provides a dedicated space for leaders representing their Xứ Đoàn/Liên Đoàn to come together in true unity; sharing their lived experiences, pastoral challenges, successes, and struggles from their state and local ministries. It is a leadership communion; a moment for leaders to strengthen unity, deepen collaboration, and collectively shape the future of the movement with a shared Eucharistic spirit.
The gathering focuses on listening and sharing pastoral experiences across all leadership levels, fostering understanding and mutual support in ministry. A discussion of the next Nắng Hồng (Australia-wide camp for Nghĩa Sĩ Cấp III to Huynh Trưởng Cấp II) also takes place and importantly the revote of the next Ban Chấp Hành Tổng Liên Đoàn team.

Get ready for an unforgettable few days away as we gather for this year’s conference theme: Bread of Life — a reminder to slow down, recharge, reconnect, and enjoy the things that truly fill us up. From shared meals and experiencing Lều Thánh Thể together with fellow Huynh Trưởng, to team bonding, late-night chats, and plenty of laughs, this is a chance to grow closer as a community and bring fresh energy, ideas, and inspiration back home to your Xứ Đoàn. Whether you’re travelling interstate or meeting new people for the first time, there’ll be something for everyone to enjoy.
“I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry…”
— John 6:35
