The gifted facilitator works with students to secure an internship opportunity with a CPS Partner Community Contributor in an academic, service, or professional field. Securing an internship can be an elaborate process, so students must declare their intention early in the year, and they must provide their own transportation to and from the internship. During the Internship, students must maintain a daily log of their hours and an annotated description of their day-to-day experiences. The course culminates with students presenting narrative and project submissions to Investigations, our digital anthology of internship experiences.

Advanced Seminars and Investigations provides students in Columbia Public Schools’ gifted education program the opportunity to learn how to structure independent learning and work in a self-taught project-based learning environment. They craft project- and process-based SMART goals in pursuit of answers to a big question, solutions to a problem, or perspectives on an issue. These experiences are facilitated by Mr. Meyer as "guide on the side" but are ultimately student-directed. Advanced Seminars and Investigations builds all sorts of transferable skills and serves as a prerequisite for the Gifted Internship course.

Advisory+ provides students in Rock Bridge High School's Gifted Education Program the opportunity to participate in an alternative Advisory experience led by EEE coordinator Jim Meyer. In addition to the typical advisory information, students will be introduced to the wide variety of gifted experiences available in high school. An alternating block for ninth grade students, advisory is a mandatory, no-credit class that helps students transition to high school more smoothly and to provide dedicate study time.
