BPS has an updated attendance policy for the 2025-2026 school year. Families can now submit a written note to excuse up to 10 absences without a doctor's note.

One of the most important things to remember is that elementary students may NOT wear Crocs
Teacher's will let you know their communication preference at the beginning of the year. Some prefer email, phone call...etc. FOCUS is the primary communication tool for the school/district so make sure you have an account and download the app!

A recent addition to Florida law requires schools to obtain parental permission to use a name other than a child’s legal name. Please fill out the form and return it to your child's school if you wish to add a nickname.
Example: Legal name is Anthony but you would like school to refer to your child as Tony
Please contact your school counselor or social worker for additional support.

In grades K-2 your child will receive a report card that uses an M,P,E,N system (Mastery, Progressing, Emerging, Not Evident)
In grades 3-6 your child will receive a report card that uses a traditional letter grade system A,B,C,D,F
Behavior is noted as E, S, N (Excellent, Satisfactory, Needs Improvement)

Family members may join their child for lunch on Fridays.
Everyone must check in with the front office. Please know that parent/guardian seating is outside so it may be hot!!! If you are not an approved volunteer you will be escorted to and from the parent/guardian area. To become a registered volunteer, click here!
Come to the front office security area. Press the button to be let in and alert the front office staff to what student you need to check-in or out. Fill out the clipboard with the check-in/check-out information. Please make sure to have your ID with you!
No checkout after 2:00pm on a regular release day or 12:45pm on an early release day
An adult must accompany the student through the check-in process.

If you are staying within the Roy Allen school boundary, please notify the front office of the address change.
If you are have moved OUT of Roy Allen's school boundaries, please talk to the front office staff at Roy Allen so that you can correctly withdraw your student.
Transportation changes must be made in writing. Please send in a handwritten note with your child. Changes in transportation cannot be made over the phone.

For registration information, events, and other helpful links specific to incoming Kindergarten students, you should review THIS BPS webpage. BPS also posts a lot of information regarding Kindergarten registration on their Facebook page.
Roy Allen students are zoned for either Johnson Middle School or Central Middle School (see current map). The respective school websites and social media pages are great sources of information regarding their programs and registration process.
Students may also attend a middle school outside of their zoned area for specific programs and interests (see information about school choice here).
