Introduction:
Hi everyone!
Welcome to my blog. My name is Rania Atiq, a 17 year old girl who's learning that changes in life are hard. Not only the environment changes but also you have to deal with people in a different cultural context. The hardest thing I had to learn when i moved from Dubai to Lahore that you have to let go of the past, because it just doesn’t matter anymore. I had to accept the fact that certain things will never go back to how they used to be and maybe that's for the best.
The small things that I took for granted were difficult to get. Going for a walk in the street, or going out on my own, getting uninterrupted electricity or WIFI were things I took for granted and yet in Lahore it was different.
Making friends is always a challenge in life, but coming from a different place there was always a lack of connection that I felt and that is no reflection on others it was just the way it was or how I felt.
So small trivial things like being part of a school team, or managing my relations at home with mom were always a challenge. In this new adventure I realized to always have a positive outlook. Moreover, the best thing is to not try to be accepted by people, do not try to be someone you are not. lastly, its not about pleasing others or getting their approval. Be yourself. Accept change as a natural phenomenon in life.
Today, I am much more confident thanks to Lahore, the support of my bestfriend, family and my lovely dog bella. I learn everyday, communicate openly, and I can finally say that I'm comfortable with who I am.
